Client Work
Client Work
Client work is how Duodode operates day to day. Every engagement is a client project until the business evolves into something else. For me, client work is both the engine of the business and a discipline that sharpens my thinking.
How I relates to it
Client work is not a compromise. It is a compounding asset when done with the right clients on the right terms. I treat it as:
- Paid Feedback Loops on my own Taste and Competence
- Direct exposure to real businesses and real markets
- A training ground for Business Strategy and Agency Building
- Cash flow that funds larger ambitions, see Millionaire Goal and Agency-vs-Product
What makes good client work
- A client who wants real outcomes, not busywork
- A problem worth solving
- A scope that lets the team ship with execution intact
- ROI that is visible to the client and to Duodode
What I avoid
- Clients who pay for Fluff
- Endless rounds driven by indecision
- Scope that treats the agency as cheap labor rather than as a partner
- Projects with no clear business value, see Business Value
The tension
Client work can turn into a ceiling if every hour worked is a dollar earned. I am aware of this. The answer is Systems, Productized Services, and careful scaling, not more volume at the same model.
