Feedback Loops
Feedback loops are how I trust that building is actually working. An idea in a head is theory. An idea shipped into reality generates feedback. Feedback produces improvement. That is the loop.
The basic logic
- Build something
- Put it in reality
- Receive signal
- Adjust
- Repeat
Every cycle of that loop sharpens the product, the builder, and the Judgment behind both.
Why they matter so much to me
Without feedback loops, building becomes guessing. Without guessing correction, guessing gets worse, not better. Feedback loops are the only way for Competence to compound.
I also trusts feedback more than theory because reality is honest. A user either engages or does not. A client either pays or does not. A design either works or does not. There is less room for Fluff here than in pre-shipping discussion.
Tight loops vs loose loops
Tight loops (short time between build and feedback) are better. Long loops are dangerous because:
- Too many variables change before signal arrives
- Motivation decays
- Learning is diluted
I prefer anything that tightens the loop: smaller ships, faster releases, quicker client cycles.
How I build them
- Shipping often and small
- Watching how people actually use things
- Asking for direct responses from clients and collaborators
- Using Analytics and real data over impressions
- Reflecting (Introspection) on what shipped teaches me
The trap
Running the loop without closing it. Shipping without looking at the result. Receiving feedback and not acting on it. That is motion without learning, which defeats the entire purpose.
Connection to Duodode
Running Duodode is a continuous feedback loop. Every client project is a chance to sharpen process, positioning, and craft. The agency gets better only if the feedback is collected and used.

Ideas only matter when tested in reality. Feedback loops are the mechanism that tests them. This is where Philosophy and Build and Ship meet: in the actual loop between idea and reality.
