Meditations — Marcus Aurelius
A collection of private reflections on discipline, virtue, and how to live well under pressure.
Essay
This was the first stoic book I read, and I came to it through a very human route rather than an academic one. Watching Gladiator made me curious about Marcus Aurelius, and that curiosity led me here. I like when philosophy begins through fascination like that.
What stayed was the tone of inner governance. Not flashy wisdom, just the steady attempt to keep the self in order under pressure. That mattered to me because it made philosophy feel practical without becoming shallow. It belongs near Seriousness, Mortality, and Self-Overcoming in the way I think.
