Wonder
Wonder
Wonder is a value I keep alive on purpose. It is one of the inputs that keeps my ambition honest and my thinking sharp. Without it, building becomes mechanical. With it, the same work carries weight.
Why I protect it
I am ROI-driven and serious about outcomes, but I do not want that to collapse into a narrow, joyless operator mode. Wonder is part of how I stay curious enough to keep learning, stretching, and noticing things other people miss.
Where it comes from
- Space and Astronomy
- Science Fiction books
- Video Essays from Thoughtful Creators
- Philosophy and existential questions
- Running and the space it creates for thinking
- The strange mix of darkness and scale that certain ideas create
What it is not
It is not cheap awe. It is not a moodboard. It is not the fake-deep tone I dislike across communication and writing. Real wonder is quiet, grounded, and useful.
How it shows up in my work
Wonder is one reason I keep my creative taste sharp. It is why Duodode is meant to feel intentional rather than generic. Work built without any sense of wonder tends to be forgettable, and forgettable work fails my standard of substance over noise.
It also matters because wonder is not always bright. Sometimes it sits close to darkness, scale, insignificance, and the uncomfortable edge of awareness. I am interested in that version too. The universe can deepen awe and unease at the same time.
