Elvis Presley entered my life through John, which is part of why the connection feels personal rather than purely musical. Some artists arrive through algorithms. Others arrive through a person, a place, and a period of life. Elvis belongs to the second kind.
What stayed with me was not only the music. It was the atmosphere around it. Bars in Hanoi, long conversations, shared drinks, and the feeling of being introduced to an older cultural world by someone who had actually lived more of it.
