What I Talk About When I Talk About Running — Haruki Murakami

What I Talk About When I Talk About Running — Haruki Murakami

A memoir about running, writing, routine, and the discipline of repetition.

Essay

I liked this book because it makes repetition feel dignified. There is no fake grandeur to it. Just practice, endurance, body, weather, routine, and the slow honesty of doing something over time.

That lands for me because it connects so cleanly to my own relationship with Running. I do not treat running mainly as sport performance either. I treat it as a mental and personal practice. Murakami's version made that way of seeing it feel more articulated, and it also ties naturally into Discipline and Self-Overcoming.
