Scale and Depth
Scale and Depth
Scale and depth is the register I am naturally drawn to. Big ideas, long timescales, serious thinkers, and work that actually holds up under scrutiny. I prefer media, people, and projects that operate in this register over anything shallow or trendy.
What I mean by it
- Scale: size of idea, size of ambition, size of timeline
- Depth: real substance, real thinking, real craft
Both are required. Scale without depth is marketing. Depth without scale is hobby work. I want both.
Where I find it
- Space and Astronomy
- Science Fiction books
- Serious Philosophy, especially Nietzsche
- Video Essays from Thoughtful Creators
- Long-form Writing in Essays, Substack, and The New York Times
How it shapes my taste
I filter creators, books, and work through this lens. If something is only surface aesthetic, I lose interest fast. If something carries real weight, I stay with it. It is the same reason I avoid Fluff and Performative Business Talk.
How it shapes my building
Duodode is built to have both. Enough scale to matter as a business. Enough depth to feel intentional and hold up over time. My design philosophy of intentional, timeless, consistent is a direct expression of this value.
