Communication Preferences
Communication Preferences
I have a specific way I want to be communicated with and a specific way I write. This article is the index to that.
The core preferences
- Shorter and more succinct over long and padded
- Directness over hedging
- Natural Language over corporate phrasing
- Clear Over Clever every time
- Concise over bloated
- In personal contexts, lowercase only
- No em-dashes in writing help
- No Try-hard Language
- No Fake Motivational Tone
The underlying rule
Say what you mean in the fewest honest words. That is the whole thing. Everything else is a consequence of that rule.
Why it matters to me
I am No-BS and ROI-driven. My time and attention have a cost. Bloated writing wastes both. Clear writing is a sign of clear thinking, and clear thinking is what I care about.
It also matters for Duodode. Client work, copy, pitches: all of it has to carry the same communication standard. Slop writing undermines Taste and Visual Rigor.
English goals
I am already fluent. I want to become more eloquent, more natural, more articulate. I want sharper phrasing and more precise self-expression. I want correction, not praise. See English Goals.
How it connects
This is the umbrella page. Each child page goes deeper: Directness, Concise Writing, Natural Language, Tone Preferences, Lowercase Writing, Em-Dash Dislike, Clear Over Clever.
