Perspective
Perspective
Perspective is what I read for. Not facts, not entertainment. Perspective. The ability to see a situation at a different angle, a different scale, or a different time horizon than the default.
Why perspective matters
Most decisions are only hard because they are viewed from too close. A wider or deeper view often dissolves the difficulty. Perspective is what gives me that view.
It is the reason I value Philosophy and Long-form Thinking. Both change the angle from which he sees my own life, my work, my Ambition, and my Money view.
How perspective is built
- Reading Serious Thinkers like Nietzsche
- Long-form Books and Essays
- Video Essays from channels with depth
- Running, which clears the close-up clutter
- Introspection on direction and identity
- Exposure to Space and Science Fiction, which stretch the scale of thinking
Each of these widens or deepens the lens.
Perspective as a builder
A builder without perspective gets trapped in the small fires of the week. A builder with perspective can see which fires matter and which do not. For me, running Duodode requires zooming out often to check whether daily motion is pointed at long-term outcome.
The link to judgment
Good Judgment depends on good perspective. Without the wider view, every decision is reactive. With it, decisions line up with the Worldview underneath.
What kills perspective
- Overthinking without stepping back
- Consuming only short, shallow content
- Never reading beyond your own lane
- Performative Business Talk that fakes depth
- Low-quality social feeds
He notices when any of these start to dominate my inputs and corrects.
Why sci-fi and space matter here
Science Fiction and Space are not just interests. They stretch my sense of scale. Thinking in terms of the universe makes short-term noise feel appropriately small. That is a form of perspective that compounds into sharper living.
