Nietzsche

Nietzsche

Nietzsche is my favorite philosopher. Out of everyone I have read across Philosophy, Nietzsche is the one whose vocabulary fits my own instincts most closely. Nietzsche is not a casual interest. He is a reference point I return to.

Why Nietzsche and not someone else

I am drawn to Serious Thinkers who wrote to change how a person lives, and Nietzsche is the sharpest example of that. The refusal to accept inherited comfort, the insistence on becoming stronger, the attack on passive mediocrity, all of that reads as direct to me. Nietzsche wrote with edge. He wrote like someone who took life seriously. That matches how I want to operate.

The core ideas that land for me

  • Self-Overcoming as the central project of a person's life
  • Strength as something earned, not claimed
  • Comfort as a thing to be suspicious of
  • Becoming over being
  • Living with intention instead of drifting

These are not abstract ideas for me. They slot directly into how I think about Self-Development, building Duodode, and avoiding Mediocrity.

Why self-overcoming in particular

Self-Overcoming is the Nietzschean idea I take most seriously. The core of it is simple: do not settle for the version of yourself that already exists. Push past the part of you that wants to stop. For a builder who believes in Build and Ship and Starting Before Ready, self-overcoming is a philosophical backbone for the behavior I already try to practice.

What it gives me practically

Nietzsche gives me a way to talk about Ambition without reducing it to money or status. He gives me language for the part of me that wants to become something strong and capable, not for image reasons, but because the alternative is a wasted life. This matters because Fluff and motivational culture often hijack that energy. Nietzsche does not.

How I read him

Slowly. As Long-form Thinking, not as quotes. Nietzsche is the kind of writer I let sit with me. A few pages can change how a day feels. That is the type of reading I value, and exactly why I prefer Depth Over Trendiness.

Connection to the bigger system

Nietzsche is upstream of a lot of how I already live. Execution Over Talk, Avoiding Mediocrity, Ambition, Self-Development, and the seriousness I bring to Money and building all have a Nietzschean weight behind them. The philosophy is not separate from the business. It is the engine.
